Hatred

Hatred

Hatred is a darkness that covers the sky.
It spreads like a cancer that will not die.
It grows like a parasite on the tree of life.
It infects your heart with the darkest strife.

It severs the bond between sister and brother,
And turns dearest friends against one another.
It poisons the well of a community's love,
And blocks out the warm sun from above.

It brings down bombs on homes that we've made
And leaves bloody scars where innocence played.
Where crowds once gathered and laughter rang
Now bitterness reigns where the joyous sang.

Please heed this fair warning before it's too late
Do not feed the outrage or nourish the hate.
For nothing good grows where hatred is sown
A world torn apart and hearts turned to stone.
